2 Sketches 4 You & Color Cue Challenge

One Card - Two Challenges. Colors are PTI Lemon Tart, Ocean Tides, Hibiscus Burst & White from the Color Cue Challenge. Layout is from Laura's Sketch at 2 Sketches 4 You. I've neglected my guide lines stamp set for awhile now, so I was excited to use it with these fun colors. Simple card, but I think it would be perfect to send to a friend. Hope your day is fabulous is perfect for just about anything!
I haven't posted in a week -where does the time go? I've been busy packing & getting ready to leave for 10 days. My husband, 2 kids, my parents, and myself will be flying to New Orleans Friday to go on a 7 day western caribbean cruise. SO FUN! I'll post some highlight pictures when we return.

Poppy Seed Challenge #2

Poppy Seed Challenge is to use Buttons, Polka Dots & Light Moss Color. Easy request - Thanks Lisa for the inspiration!! I love these DeNami tree's, especially when you add the citrone glitter to them. I added embossed & stamped polka dots. DeNami button, and pink grosgrain ribbon.

DeNami Sketch Challenge #1

Thanks Paulina for choosing a semi-easy sketch for the 1st challenge on the DeNami Blog. I encourage everyone to participate --- and the winner gets a $50 prize package!!!
Vegas weather is beautiful - gorgeous sunny days, not too hot yet. If we could get rid of the wind it would be perfect! I wanted to make my trees looks springy, so I chose to add the pink accents. I really like the way the colors went together. These tree images are some of my all time favorite stamps. DeNami carries the best Grosgrain ribbon, thick enough to hold shape, but nice & bendable to tie a pretty bow. Love it!! Hope you have a great weekend.... thanks for looking!
Stamps: leafy topiary, narrow tree, round tree
Cardstock: pink, white, chocolate, kraft
Ink: Versafine Sepia
Misc: Pink Grosgrain Ribbon, Extra Fine Glitter, Quickie Glue Pen, Tombow Markers, Pink Buttons, sand Buttons, Spellbinders Large Scallop Dies.

Taylored Expressions Sketch #104

I am SO excited Taylor picked my rocker card as one of her top crops. Such a nice surprise to get an email from her.... I told my husband I had a "famous" card now.
Taylor's Sketch this week looked a little challenging for me, but I actually like how my card turned out. Nice and Springy.... just like the weather here in Vegas. Looking forward to ditching the boots & sweaters for flip flops & tank tops soon.
Felt flowers & aqua lace are from Taylored Expressions. PTI Honeybee stamp set. DeNami button. Martha Stewart border punch. Paper is from the Citrus Stack I bought last year at Joannes.

Happy Easter

Have you checked out the DeNami blog lately? Lots of great inspiration! Product spotlight is this cute set of easter eggs. I made a fairly "busy" card somehow, which is unlike me. I honestly had a whole pile of DeNami stamps on my table by the time I finished this card. It just goes to show how you can mix and match DeNami stamps together so easily.
Supplies:
Stamps: easter eggs, mini polka dot, large dot swirls, dot frame, and easter set.
Cardstock: white and kraft
Ink: Purple, Lime, Black
Misc: lime ribbon, tombow markers, quickie glue pen, xtra fine glitter, marvy scallop punch.

Embellish Color Challenge with Fabric

Embellish Challenge colors are Red, Blue, Green & Kraft. PLUS the addition of fabric. The only fabric I could find in my house that was one of these colors was this burlap looking fabric. I wanted to add some flowers, and these are the only red one's I own. I used my Big Shot to cut out the leaves - a flourish die and my new Nestabilites - Big Scalloped Rectangles, Large. DeNami buttons, PTI twine, PTI Signature Greetings Stamp, Versafine Red Ink. Stampin Up Cardstock. Quick and easy, typical Wendy card.

Happy 30th Birthday 2S4Y

Yep, a non-stamped handmade card. Doesn't happen very often in this house! I'm taking a good friend of mine out to lunch today for her 30th birthday, so I had to make her a special card. Kazan's Sketch was perfect for the idea I had for this card. I didn't have much time so I pulled out some scraps, dusted off my cricut and had it cut out the 30 and brackets. Ran the brackets through my big shot & gave them some texture. DeNami buttons & pretty yellow glitter finished it off. Perfect for a 30th bday girl!

Taylored Expressions Sketch #103

I try not to buy many stamps, because I already have "enough"..... but I HAD to have this new You're My Hero set that Taylor released this month. Perfect to use on her sketch this week. Just by purchasing this set.....$7.oo goes directly to Cure Search - a Childhood Cancer Foundation Group. How fabulous is that? PLUS I have a little rocker in my house that this set is perfect for. He loves guitar hero, and is hoping for a real guitar for his 8th birthday that is fast approaching.
I dug out some of my vintage/hoarded Basic Grey paper that I thought would work for a boy card. A little too matchy, matchy, but it works. I used Versafine Red & Deep Lagoon, and Versacolor Lime. I dusted off my neglected Stampin Up punch, I've NEVER used, to make the notebook border. Making Memories brad adds a bit of texture the star.

Easter Bunnies & Miss You Cards

Easter is fast approaching us.... Just over 3 weeks away. NOW is the time to dig out all of your Easter stamps and start stamping. This is a quick card to make, and would be perfect to mass produce if needed. Only 3 stamps were used on this whole card, a bit of coloring, and ribbon to finish it off. Nice and springy!

Stamps:
Bunny Border, Easter, Veggies
Cardstock: White, Desert Orange, Emerald Green
Ink: Onyx Black, Lime
Other: Sheer Orange w/ White Dots Ribbon

I was inspired by this card Nami posted on the blog. I just needed a quick little note to send to my parents, so I simplified it a bit. It is a 4 1/4 by 4 1/4 square card. I used the same grass stamp as I did on the Easter card above.
Stamps: Curly Butterfly, Rosebud Trio, Assorted Greetings
Cardstock: White
Ink: Onyx Black, Lime
Other: Quickie Glue Pen, Extra Fine Glitter, Hot Pink Ribbon

Totally Cute Scrapbook Page

I'm working on a few cards...... hoping to finish them up this afternoon and get some pictures taken of them. Until then, I though I'd share these cute pictures of my daughter. They are a few years old, but just as cute. She enjoys the process more than the end product when it comes to finger-painting. My son, the perfectionist loves the end product. Crazy how different my kids are. Honestly, I am REALLY enjoying getting some pictures scrapbooked. Out of order, not too fancy, but so glad they are DONE - that is my new motto!

Lake Tahoe Getaway

I don't post many personal photos on my craft blog.... but thought a few would be okay. My husband and I spent the last few days in Lake Tahoe - CA/NV. This is only the 2nd time we've ever went anywhere without our kids. It was nice at times, but I missed them too. We had wonderful weather.... I didn't know they had the olympics there in 1968? I think that was the year. We enjoyed walking around the olympic village- shopped and ate lunch. We met my best friend from college there.... hadn't seen her in 2 years. She lives in Chicago now.

Self portrait I took of us. My camera was propped up on a wet plastic table. Worked ok.

I purchased the color cubbies for my copic markers. I thought I had them organized just right, but my sweet 5 year old re-arranged them for me. I cringe when she uses them, since they are so expensive. It just shows how good the tips are, because they are still in great condition after 2 years of use by US.

Easter Chicks - 2S4Y

I made this card using Laura's Sketch #47 at 2 Sketches 4 You. Easter is during our spring break this year, so I need to get all my cards sent out in the next few weeks. Seems like we just had Valentines Day!! I love this DeNami Easter Chickies Circle Stamp. It is perfectly sized for the Marvy punches and will also work with the Nestabilities Dies. Who knew one stamp colored in with some markers could look so cute! OH, it must be the glitter - I added citrone glitter to the chickies & xtra fine to the rest.
Cardstock: DeNami Design--White, Magenta, Lime, & Emerald. Patterned Paper is Bella Press -Watermelon Polka dots.
Accessories: Versafine Black Ink Pad, Hot Pink Grosgrain Ribbon 5/8, Stampin Up border punch. Marvy Scalloped Circle Punches, Quickie Glue Pen, Citrone & Xtra Fine Glitter, Tombow Markers.

I had a semi-clean desk when I started crafting this morning. I can't believe how many trips I made up and down my stairs. This is what it looks like now.........

Scrapbook Pages - Simple, but DONE

I normally don't post many scrapbook pages, but I've been doing a lot lately. For 2010 I purchased the Becky Higgins project life. My family has really enjoyed the picture a day approach. This is going to be the way I scrapbook most of 2010. Any vacations, and big holidays will be scrapbooked the traditional way.
Mostly, I am posting these for my friend Paulina - she mentioned she would like to see some... so here you go Paulina.

DeNami Wedding Card - 2 Sketches 4 You

Denami 2s4y-1

DeNami Design is the sponsor this week at 2S4Y. So excited to participate in Kazan's awesome sketch and use some fun DeNami Stamps. I love this classic DeNami contempo couple. I normally would emboss it in silver, and make an elegant card. It has been a neglected stamp for the last 5 years so I wanted to pull it out & try something new. I dusted it off and decided to make a more funky and fun card by adding the aquamarine cardstock and fun rhinestones. I wanted the focal image to really stand out so I mounted it onto chipboard and added some punched out 1" circles around it. I had been scrapbooking earlier in the day and had used a large circle with the same concept on my page. I think I am finally getting to a stage in my crafting that my brain actually can use scrapbooking & card techniques interchangeably. The scrapbook page is green because that is my favorite color, and we bought it around my 30th birthday, so I claimed it as my birthday gift.

Acadia-1
DeNami Card Supplies:

Cardstock: White, black, and aquamarine

Ink: black versafine and silver.

Stamps: contempo couple, congratulations script, and starlet

Accessories: silver edge white ribbon, black grosgrain ribbon, DeNami clear embossing powder, Nestabilites Circle Die, 1' circle punch, rhinestones, chipboard, embossing gun.

Papertrey Ink Spring Challenge

Papertrey Ink Challenge, yippee! I chose to use Dawn's color combo Aqua Mist, Hibiscus Burst, Spring Moss & White. Sometimes I think my little PTI Ink cube colors are a little off, like this hibiscus burst color looks more raspberry, and my aqua mist is almost light grey. I wonder if I should upgrade to the larger pads.... anyone else have this problem? I'm Spring cleaning, so I'm trying to use some sets I've neglected, or let them move onto another home. Beautiful Blooms is such a pretty set, perfect for spring. I also used the fillable frames set. I love the ruffled grosgrain ribbon and buttons, adds some much needed texture. OH, and the glitter is there, it is just really hard to see. I lined the inside of the frame with quickie glue pen & added DeNami xtra fine glitter. So pretty.

My daughter has been really sick with a "Virus" since Wednesday night. Poor thing. STILL has a temperature today, so no school or leaving the house for us. So I've had time to do crafty stuff when she watches tv. and this is one project I did when I was sitting with her. I saw this on a blog a few months ago, and finally took the time to do it. I'd give credit to the person who thought of it, but I can't remember where I saw it. Wish I would have done it months ago!! The PTI cases are awesome, but the labels on the spine are hard to read. So I added a little strip of white paper with some red line tape to the inside behind the stamp set name. Can you see how much easier they are to read now? It didn't take long to do, and the end result is awesome!! Feel free to email if you need more info. Happy Monday!
